Foster Care & Adoption

Child Crisis Arizona’s Foster Care and Adoption program is committed to helping children in out-of-home care by licensing and certifying parents for foster care and adoption. Child Crisis Arizona provides extensive support to foster care and adoption families and is proud of the low disruption rate. Child Crisis Arizona offers a combination of services and support, along with realistic training, to prepare families for placement of children of all ages and backgrounds.

Child Crisis Arizona works with both single and two-parent families. There are no limitations on religious beliefs, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Additionally, Child Crisis Arizona actively seeks foster and adoptive parents from the Native American and LGBTQ communities.

Are you raising a relative’s child? Child Crisis Arizona offers special services for kinship caregivers including support groups, foster care certification and training, parenting resources and family activities.

Meet Our Families

What are the requirements to become a foster or adoptive parent?

  • Must be age 21 or older for foster care, 18 or older for adoption
  • Must be financially stable
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Obtain a physician’s statement verifying your emotional & physical health
  • Complete a fingerprint & criminal background check
  • Complete a Life Safety Inspection
  • Complete five weeks of Foster Parent College training
  • Provide five references 
  • Provide documentation including, not limited to, birth certificate, CPR/ First Aid training, auto insurance

Upcoming Agency Meet and Greet Dates

 

Learn about the foster care and adoption process by attending one of our Agency Meet and Greet events. During this virtual meeting, you will learn about the needs of children in care, what your role in meeting those needs will be, the licensing and certification process, as well as the support and resources offered to foster and adoptive families.

The next Agency Meet and Greet will be held virtually over Zoom on November 5th at 6 p.m.

What is the certification process?

  1. After you decide to partner with Child Crisis Arizona for your adoption or foster placement, a licensing specialist will visit your home to work with you on completing general requirements, paperwork, and training.
  2. Your specialist will interview family members, guide you through the required paperwork, and help you complete your home study.
  3. Your specialist will guide you through preparing your home for the Life Safety Inspection. Then you’ll be ready for licensing or certification!
