Who We Are
Child Crisis Arizona has been helping our community’s most vulnerable children, youth and families for nearly five decades. In times of crisis, we are there to help. When no crisis threatens, we are there to strengthen families, build resiliency and prevent crisis situations.
Child Crisis Arizona’s mission is to provide children and youth in Arizona a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect, by creating strong and successful families.
We do this through prevention, intervention and education programs designed to support the thousands of children and families who may be at risk. All of our work centers on our vision of safe kids…strong families.

Emergency Children’s Shelter
Child Crisis Arizona operates Emergency Children’s Shelters for children ages 2 though 10 who have experienced abuse or neglect. Open 24 hours a day each day of the week, we offer a safe haven for children who arrive due to neglect, abandonment, homelessness, abuse or parental incarceration. Our specially trained staff and volunteers provide comfort, care, and support, as well as medical care, counseling, and attention to developmental delays. We also operate a group home for boys ages 10-18 in the foster care system and two independent living programs for foster youth ages 18-21.
Foster Care and Adoption
With thousands of children in Arizona’s foster care system, the need for strong, well-prepared foster and adoptive families continues to grow. We have one of the largest foster care and adoption programs to license, train and certify individuals and families interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. Our range of services and support, along with realistic training, prepares families for the placement of children of all ages and backgrounds. We serve single and two-parent families from a no-limitations spectrum of religious beliefs, ethnicities and sexual orientations.
Early Education Services
Child Crisis Arizona operates a year-round Early Head Start and Preschool program in Phoenix and Mesa, serving 251 children ages 1-5. Low teacher-child ratios and small group sizes ensure that services are individualized and that children have opportunities to form healthy attachments with their teachers. Children receive myriad opportunities to develop the physical, social and emotional skills they will need to succeed in school.
Counseling
Classes and Workshops
Child Crisis Arizona offers no-cost resources to families and community members through 300 different parenting classes, workshops, support groups, and family events annually both onsite and in the community. We strive to build safe, stable, strong families through a Family Resource Model. Our programs assist parents and caregivers in dealing with life’s stressors by teaching and developing parenting skills in a non-judgmental environment.
Resource Distribution Center
The Reouce Distrubution Center assists homeless students and families, families in transition and victims of domestic violence with their basic daily living necessities such as clothes, shoes, toiletries, personal hygiene items, household cleaning supplies and school supplies.
Safe Kids
Child Crisis Arizona operates the Safe Kids program. Safe Kids has been educating families about injury prevention and safe practices for more than 25 years.
Whispering Hope Ranch
Arizona’s all-ability camp for youth, teens, and adults with physical, sensory, or mental disabilities, now a program of Child Crisis Arizona. Whipsering Hope Ranch integrates adapted traditional camp activities like archery, arts and crafts, and sports with our animal interaction and equine-facilitated programs, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where everyone can participate at their own pace.
Teen and Young Adult Resources
Among these services are Destination Diploma, for homeless high school students in the Chandler Unified School District, helping them stay in school and graduate with a post-secondary plan in place, Extended Foster Care, which pairs youth aging out of foster care with a success coach to mentor and connect them with resources and our Independent Living Program, an apartment complex for young adults 18 to 21 who have elected to stay in the foster care system.
