LGBTQ couple builds their forever family through adoption
Just two hours after officially becoming foster parents through Child Crisis Arizona, Bailey and Alex got the call that would forever change them—a newborn baby boy needed a home.
Bentley had been born drug exposed to a mother who had a long history with the Department of Child Safety. During the first phone call, Bailey was asked if she would consider adopting this little boy.
“They didn’t want us to say yes to fostering if we weren’t open to adoption as well,” Bailey said. “I knew we got the call for a reason. I just said yes and from the moment I met him at the hospital it was an instant connection.”
Eleven short months later the couple received another call. Bentley’s baby brother, Levi, had been born two months premature, weighing just three pounds. Would they take him as well? They said yes.
Both boys were adopted within a year and the young couple has no regrets.
“It was the best thing we ever did by far. There is no greater reward in life than being able to help these children,” Bailey said. “From what they came from to now you would never be able to tell their history. They had so many obstacles thrown in their face from being born with drugs, premature, all these problems. They have soared and overcome so much. I’m really proud of them. All it took was a loving home and environment for them to really thrive.”
