Whispering Hope Ranch is a place where possibilities come to life—a haven where campers of all abilities are celebrated, supported, and encouraged to dream big. Nestled in the cool pines of Payson, Arizona, this 45-acre ranch was thoughtfully designed to welcome children and youth with physical, mental, and sensory disabilities.
Here, acceptance and respect are at the heart of everything we do. Whether hosting uniquely adapted camp sessions or welcoming groups, our programs are tailored to meet each group’s specific needs, creating a safe and nurturing space for personal growth, connection, and unforgettable memories.
With accommodations for up to 160 campers and staff, Whispering Hope Ranch is ready to make every moment extraordinary.
Through equine therapy, counseling services, and vocational training, participants not only address immediate challenges but also develop life skills, resilience, and a sense of purpose that extends beyond their time at the ranch. Features include specially designed equipment such as adapted saddles used with a wheelchair mounting ramp, aquatic wheelchairs and wheelchair swings to create an inclusive environment and opportunities for all ability-level campers.
The heart of the Ranch experience is the healing that happens between campers and our gentle animal residents, many of whom also live with disabilities.
Animal interaction and equine-facilitated programs have a wide range of benefits for children with special needs, including:
Whispering Hope Ranch, a Child Crisis Arizona facility, is open each year to partner nonprofit organizations and community groups who host camps for the children and families they serve. As a program of Child Crisis Arizona, the Ranch also provides meaningful camp experiences for youth in the foster care system, creating a safe and supportive space tailored to their unique needs. These partners, along with the volunteers who care for and support campers onsite, use the Ranch to offer a unique environment where children can process trauma, build self-esteem, and develop essential life skills.
