For 120 years, May 6 to May 12 is designated Nurse’s Week to celebrate the important role nurses play in health care.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) supports and promotes the nursing profession and encourages state and territorial nurses associations to recognize the contributions that nurses and nursing make to the community. The impact nurses have on Child Crisis Arizona is something to be celebrated.

Did you know we have five employees that make up our nursing staff and take care of the children in our Emergency Shelters?

A modified version of the ‘Hippocratic Oath” was composed in 1893 for nurses called the Florence Nightingale Pledge, as a token of esteem for the founder of modern nursing. The last line of the pledge reads, “With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.” This line rings true for the nurses who have come to call Child Crisis Arizona home. The commitment and dedication our nursing staff has to the children in our Emergency Shelters are unprecedented.

“When a child is admitted to our Emergency Shelter, their first stop is with our nursing staff. These children are scared, confused and sometimes hurt and our nurse’s comfort, calm and care for them,” says Torrie A. Taj, Child Crisis Arizona CEO. “We are able to provide top quality care, address health issues and provide medical screenings because of our amazing nurses. Thank you for all you do to keep our kids safe!”

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the nurses who make a difference every day at Child Crisis Arizona.
